Spring & Summer VIRTUAL CLASSES Coming Soon 

Our mission is and always will be to... "disrupt disparity in CS and STEM."  We do this by creating space for all students in the Howard County area to participate in our programs. Proceeds from our programs are used to ensure all students have access to high quality CS and STEM programs. #HoCoCSforAll.

Code Monkey Classes for 2rd - 3rd
What is CodeMonkey?

CodeMonkey is a fun and educational game-based environment where kids learn to code without any prior experience. After completing CodeMonkey's award-winning coding courses, kids will be able to navigate through the programming world with a sense of confidence and accomplishment.

​What Will You Do In Class?
  • Connect with friends
  • Learn coding basics in real programming languages
  • Develop a strong foundation in coding principles while having fun!​
Who: 2nd and 3rd Graders
Where: Live session via Zoom 
Dates:  ​6 - 60 minute sessions

Cost: $90* includes a year long subscription to the CodeMonkey coding platform and a Tech Changers Coding Package

What is a Makey Makey?
Makey Makey is an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touch pads & input device.
What Will You Do In Class:
  • Connect with friends.
  • Explore conductivity & circuits.
  • Create and explore computer hardware.
  • Make conductive material act as the input device for a computer.
  • Think like a hardware engineer & solve real-world design challenges.
Who: 4th and 5th Graders
Where: Live session via Zoom

Virtual Physical Computing w Rasp Pi

What is a Raspberry Pi?
The Raspberry Pi is a tiny and affordable computer that you can use to learn programming through fun, practical projects. 
What Will You Do In Class:
  • Connect with friends
  • Learn how computers work
  • Explore conductivity & circuits
  • Learn to code using Python
  • Think like a hardware engineer & solve real-world design challenges.
Who: 6th-8th Graders
Where: Live session via Zoom 
Dates: 6 - 90 minute sessions + a materials pickup/setup lesson
Time: TBD
Cost: 
$75* plus $60 materials/delivery fees* Scholarships available
NOTE: Materials include a raspberry pi 3 complete setup & other supplies which will be picked up upon arrangement prior to class

4th & 5th Graders - Girls and Boys!  Join Tech Changers as we launch a new course that will take you on a journey through the world of computers.  From computer dissections to logic gates, learn what it takes to get your code through a computer.  Study computer anatomy and explore the circulatory systems of computer code as you study what happens to your code as it is transformed from a simple algorithm to pulsing binary and circuitry.

This out-of-school club will write python code to automate Snapchat. Once we master a basic project together, each participant will get to build their own Snapchat bot!

Maker Space Mondays are designed to connect industry experts with high school students to survey a variety of topics from computer hardware, soldering, circuits, and nanotechnology.

APL STEM Girl Power! Tech Changers always has a great time supporting APL STEM Girl Power! Past session include computing activities like, Let's Get Physical with micro:bits and sewable circuits. These programs empower girls to write code to make a Rocks Paper Scissors game and explore circuity.

Think Like a Programmer: Tech Changers supports local Girl Scouts to complete requirements for the Think Like a Programmer Journey.  This 2 hour program covers many basic computer science topics like algorithms, pseudocode, loops, and functions.  Sessions are  fun and engaging and incorporate both unplugged and computer based activities via code.org!
